Collection ‘Master of Murano Glass - unique pieces handmade by the artist’
Artwork no. 85

Pair of artistic Murano glasses by Maestro Igor Balbi, made with the ‘lume’ blowing technique (flameworking), made entirely by hand, each glass is a unique piece.

H 16 × ø 3.5 cm; base 4.3 cm
H 13.5 × ø 4.5 cm; base 4.3 cm
Weight: 5 g each.

Pair of glasses bearing the name of the first collection from 2003 that featured the colour named after its maker ‘Balbi green’.
The bowls of the two glasses are made with an unheard-of combination of glass pastes that creates a one-of-a-kind tone of green reminiscent of the typical colour of the Venentian lagoon.
Each glass is characterised by an elegant stem with white grooves and a bright red base.

Balbi reinterprets a recurrent theme of the Muranese tradition: the glass is revived with his hands, as a unique and sculptural piece.
His mastery, which makes his pieces unique amongst their kind, allows him to achieve colours, patterns, shapes and effects that appear to be technically and chemically impossible.
With more than 20 years of learning and experimentation, Balbi has transcended the tradition to perfect his own personal lume (flameworking) technique that takes his name, recognised and studied by the Corning Museum of Glass.

These pieces are part of the ‘Master of Murano Glass - Contemporary’ collection of 701 original glass pieces made by Muranese experts and carefully curated by i-AM Foundation.
Each artwork is accompanied by the certificate of authenticity and is amongst the works being offered in the catalogue in production, by UNIQUE Edition Press, Milan.

Professionally packaged and shipped.
