Description
Statue(s) (1) - Wood - Yombe - Congo DRC
Late 20th century - Poor
The backside of the statuette is strongly deteriorated, with age-related wear.
The Yombe are a subgroup of the Kongo ethnic group, we can recognise the Kongo stylistic canons, like the eyes made of inlaid pieces of glass or the inlaid pieces of mirror on the body. Fecundity and progeny are central themes in African cultures.
Smooth patina of a Mahogany tint.
