Ziegler - Carpet - 230 cm - 165 cm

Ziegler - Carpet - 230 cm - 165 cm
Wool and silk on cotton - Pakistan - Late 20th century

Typical Ziegler.
Beautiful, heavy quality with clear abrash.
Abrash is the effect of small colour differences in the wool.
This results from the wool being dyed in small amounts.
It's the charm of a handmade product and at Ziegler carpets deliberately done as a quality feature.
High percentage of silk in the wool, which gives the carpet a beautiful deep shine. It also feels as soft as silk.
Undamaged edges and ends.
Clean, professionally cleaned.

From 1880 to 1930, Ziegler & Co was located in the Sultanabad region (present Arak), they controlled production and sales the US and Europe. During that time, the carpets were still called Sultanabad or Fereghan, this name comes from the carpets the original patterns derived from. Ziegler & Co has its headquarters in Tabriz and employs thousands of knotters from there.
