The Verrerie de Passavant-la-Rochère or Verrerie La Rochère is a glassware factory / museum founded in 1475 in Passavant-la-Rochère, in the Vosges saônoises / Haute-Saône, in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. This major glass factory in the Vosges Massif is, with its 5 centuries of industrial activity, the oldest traditional art glass factory in operation in Europe. It has been awarded the "Entreprise du patrimoine vivant" label since 2009, with more than 100,000 visitors a year. Simon de Thysac (master glassmaker, gentleman of Château de Lichecourt in the Vosges) obtained the right from the Dukes of Lorraine to found this medieval glass factory in 1475, on the border of the Duchy of Lorraine / County of Burgundy / Duchy of Burgundy.
These glasses are an exact reproduction of a set created in 1830, which Chopin had given to George Sand.
