Muonionalusta is a metallic meteorite of Class IVA octahedrite.
The first was discovered in 1906 by two children looking after cattle near the village of Kitkiojarvi; to kill time, they were having fun stamping their feet on stones, when the foot of one of the children made contact with a heavy, rusty object.
They took the iron out and brought it home. It was later identified as an iron meteorite and was described by Högborn (1910) as Muonionalusta.
