The lamp on offer here is the first series ever produced, patent 5278-914551-73865, made in Italy, in 1967, orange and white colour.
Eclisse, by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, 1967 “Compasso d’Oro” award, on display at New York MoMA.
The lamp consists of three semi-spheres:
one serves as the base, the other two are the external lampshade and the internal rotating lampshade which adjust the light intensity mimicking a lunar eclipse.
The lamp is marked on the bottom: Studio Artemide Milano - Eclisse model - design Vico Magistretti.
The lamp is in good condition, the paint is perfect everywhere, small signs of ageing.
It comes with its original bulb.
The last picture shows the famous metro ticket where Magistretti drew the very first Eclipse sketch.
