Saegusa Sotaro (1911-2006), a graduate of the Sculpture School of Tokyo School of Fine Arts, has won a number of prestigious awards, and is considered to be one of the finest metal artists in Japan.
His bronze works display a variety of themes and postures, reflecting traditional Japanese culture with injection of abstract elements.
