Black lacquered Shonai cabinet with extraordinary hardware depicting a turtle, a bird, flowers and pine trees.
With a vertical removable bar to close the 3 top drawers. In the metalware on the bar there is a family crest of the Maeda clan.
They were a Japanese samurai clan who ruled most of the Hokuriku region of central Honshū from the end of the Sengoku period through the Meiji restoration of 1868 (Wikipedia).
This kind of cabinet originate from Shonai - Yamagata Prefecture in the north of Japan.
Behind the lower revolving door 3 smaller drawers and 1 secret hidden compartiment !
In nice original condition with no major lacquer damage and all original hardware.
