A fine old Eket Ekpo Mask, representing a bearded chief, wood with dark and black brown patina.

Old patina inside, a crack in the wood on the inside upper part ( probably restored), small lack under the chin, one part of beard missing.

Related to the Ibibio, the eket mostly make a round mask representing the female divinity called Eka Abassi , this quite natural representation of a Ekpo chief is more seldom.

A related mask is to be found in the Indiana University Art Museum, Raymond and Laura Wielgus Collection, 87.24.1

Height: 23 cm, 35 cm on the custom made stand.
