Description
Montblanc - Fountain pen - FRANCOIS 1 ER of 1
Spain - 1980-2000 - As new - unused

Beautiful Montblanc fountain pen in commemoration of Fracois 1 with the number 1,666 of 4,810. A great patron of the arts, King Francois I made his mark in French culture. The lines of the fountain pen of Francois I limited edition pay homage to the life and work of this French King of the Renaissance. They harmoniously match up with a magnificent royalty badge and artistic ornaments. The 4810 edition features a tiger's eye gem, a reference to a pendant worn by Francois I, which contrasts with the beautiful black resin that adorns its cap and barrel. Its very elaborated basic element and its gold-plated rings are finely engraved with Renaissance-style patterns that give this writing instrument its royal aura.

Its 18-karat gold nib, with an exclusive line, is engraved with a lily, emblem of the French royal family. The ivory Montblanc symbol that surpasses the cap completes the real look of this unique writing instrument.

Crowned in 1515 in the cathedral of Reims, Francois Ier was the first monarch of the French Renaissance. During his reign, he allowed a considerable rise in the arts and culture. A passionate poet who was known for his actions in favour of the development of the Royal Library and for his availability to people. Founder of the Collège de France in Paris, an institution that still exists today, he introduced the study of Latin, Greek and Hebrew in France. In 1539, he signed an ordinance that made French the language of administration, instead of Latin. By invitation, famous artists settled in France, including Leonardo da Vinci, who lived and worked at the king's court until his death, before leaving La Joconde in Paris. Other world-famous works created by Michelangelo, Titian and Raphael were also brought to France at the request of Francois I. Many Renaissance artists accepted his invitation before coming to work at the French court, under his patronage. Patron of the arts and culture, King Francois I laid the foundations for the royal collection of paintings now on display in Paris at the Louvre Museum.
