Finely knotted tribal Tekke Turkmen rug, 161 x 80 cm
This mid 20th century finely knotted rug was made by a female knotter of the Tekke tribe from the Turkmen population in the south of Turkmenistan in the border area with Afghanistan.
Traditional overall "Salor" design in characteristic red and blue shades on a camel-coloured background, all made with natural dyes
Even medium to short pile made of the distinctive firm Tekke wool with minor traces of use in the upper part (last photo)
The edges are original and in good condition
Ends are complete with original kilim closure, tightly finished
Very supple texture
