Beautiful Ibibio mask from Nigeria. This mask consists in an oval face, topped by a figure with articulated arms. The face is smooth and presents a serene face. It seems to be in introspection, the gaze directed inwards. This work is alive. The whole is painted with bright colours, an ancient patina of wear is visible. The back of the mask indicates that this mask is ancient, the wood is well-oxidised. The wood is in good condition, it has suffered damages caused by xylophagous insects, which have left since a long time! A beautiful ancient and authentic piece of collection. Around 1940.
