Ntomo Mask, Bambara culture, Mali Height 45 cm.
Beautiful and intriguing Bambara mask from Mali. The face is strong with a strict expression, the glance is piercing. The mask seems to be alive, the sculptor knew how to breathe life into it. The headdress is damaged, but the wood is quite solid. A mask with much presence. Beautiful ancient patina. This is ancient and authentic quality work, it comes from the Pierre Robin collection, a great Parisian merchant, specialist in Mali, who is now retired. Around 1940.
