Seven wonderful illustrations from the book ‘Histoire des insectes de l’Europe’ by Maria Sibylla Merian.
The first French edition was published in Amsterdam by Jean Frederic Bernard in 1730.
This concerns the illustrations XIV, LXVI, LXXIV, XCVIII, CXXXIII, XXVI and CXXXI. These are original illustrations that had four illustrations on one page in the book. Great images contemporary colouration.
Dimensions: the images are 15 x 12 cm, the sheet 26 x 17.5 cm. Some are smaller. Wide margins.
In good condition. Hand coloured, original, blank verso.
