This is one of the most famous and popular images from the Art Deco period. It was made by Max le Verrier in 1928, and cast in his own foundry in Paris. He cast his own sculptures and those of a number of friendly artists in white metal from bronze moulds. Afterwards, the sculptures were bronzed, "cold-painted". The young woman with the modern hair performs a gymnastic dance with a ball. The sculptor takes the tense moment when the gymnast pauses for a moment, and then continues her dance. Early ex.
