Stunningly beautiful Art Nouveau 'calling card tray' made 1880 -1890.
Probably German in origin as I believe it to be an early WMF design. However the only obvious mark I can find is a small K on the underside edge. This was sometimes used to indicate Copper having been used under silver plate, but this is definitely pewter.
Lovely sensitive modelling and a very large size in excellent condition. One small leaf shows signs of a possible repair? See the photos. It is small and not obvious unless very closely inspected.
The item displays beautifully and represents a scantily clad young maiden by a pool full of large fish. By the side of the same pool is a young child, possibly representing a cupid figure.
Detail and modelling are excellent, indicating a high status period item.
