Frits Weeda - In de schaduw van de welvaart - 2005

In the period 1958-1965 Frits Weeda (1937) saw both the beauty and decay of the old Amsterdam working-class neighbourhoods. Weeda photographed the polluted canals, the increasing parking problems, children playing between car wrecks and advancing roads around Amsterdam. He found little resonance in his social criticism, also because the social mood was positive for the future. In 1965 Frits Weeda suddenly stopped taking photographs.
