Märklin H0 - 3489 - Steam locomotive of the Series BR 03.10 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DRG) in steel-blue livery with silver and red ornamental striping from ERA II.
The drivetrain is red and the tender is coupled to the locomotive. The model is digital and has a drum collector motor (DCM) with field coil and a Märklin delta decoder. The model has 2-point front-signal-lights and end-signal lights that alternate with changes in the direction of travel. The lighting consists of 16 volt bayonet light bulbs and they burn brighter as the speed control is turned higher. When at a standstill the lights no longer burn. The model is 27.4 cm long and the tender is equipped with a close coupling backdrops on the tender.
The Series BR 03.10 was a faster version of the Series BR 03 and was built by the Borsig, Krupp and Krauss-Maffei firms as from 1939. These locomotives had 3 cylinders. The initial intention was to build 140 locomotives, but due to World War II, only 60 were built. The Series BR 03.10 was provided with streamlined features, which significantly reduced the air resistance. The locomotives that were built by Krupp and Krauss-Maffei, had streamlined features that entirely covered the wheels. The locomotives that were built by Borsig were somewhat different and the streamlined panels only reached to midway of the driving wheels.
The locomotive has been tested and is fully functional.
