Coulvier-Gravier (1802-1868), was an astronomer, appointed to the Observatoire de Paris by François Arago. He was especially interested in shooting stars. In this book, Coulvier-Gravier quickly presents meteorology, the science of atmospheric phenomena. He writes of many celestial phenomena: dawn and dusk, aurora borealis and australis, fog, hurricanes, shooting stars.
