Fournet & Muller - A pair of French art deco lamps

Fournet & Muller - A pair of French art deco lamps
France - ca. 1930

A wonderful rare pair of French art deco lamps in wrought iron. The forged bases hold Muller shades in frosted moulded-pressed glass both signed Muller frères Luneville. Done in an uncommon salmon colour which gives a beautiful warm toned light with the lamps switched on. It are lamps made by "Le Ferre Forgé" the company of Henri Fournet that produced high quality wrought iron and bronze lighting fixtures during the interbellum in the city of Lyon France. This model wrought iron base first appears in the Fournet product catalogs in 1926 and was in production till at least 1935.

The lamps are 36,2 cm high and the shades have a diameter of 12,6 cm. The pair is in very good condition. The forged bases have a nice deep-brown patina and subtle egg gloss. One base is a little darker than the other one. Also some difference can be seen in the hammered structure of the iron. Both bases are signed leferforgéHF. The lamps are rewired with new cotton covered twistted cord new plugs and switches. And hold European E14 sockets. For the US or Japan I will wire them with American candelabra base sockets and 2-prong plugs.
