Noverdy - French Art Deco chandelier Hängelampe

Noverdy - French Art Deco chandelier Hängelampe
France - ca. 1930

A French 1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holding a beautiful shade in moulded-pressed glass by Noverdy, the glass factory of Jean Noverdy in Dijon France. The mounting was made by etablissements Cherpion. A large company in Laxou a neighbourhood of Nancy France. Cherpion was specialized in bronze and wrought iron fixtures for lighting. Almost all Cherpion pieces were unsigned and often produced in relatively high quantities. I find at least 20 Cherpion mounts a year. Lots of lamp manufacturers ordered hardware at the Cherpion plant. Also Muller freres used Cherpion bronze and wrought iron for the lamp fixtures they offered their shades with in their own Muller shops in Brussels Berlin and France. I saw a signature 'Cherpion Nancy' on several iron lamp bases and chandelier fixtures. Sometimes like on the mounting of this chandelier we can see the monogram CN on bronze pieces.

The chandelier has a height and a diameter of 35 cm. It is in very good condition. One unimportant flake on the rim which won't notice with the lamp in place (see picture). I have replated and patinated the mounting and it comes newly wired. The chandelier holds a European E27 socket. For the US or Japan I will place an american standard one.
