HED are meteorites from Asteroid 4 VESTA, the second largest asteroid in the solar system, and located in the asteroid belt, which is between Mars and Jupiter.

HEDs are classified into 3 major types: Howardites, Eucrites and Diogenites.

The piece shown here is a magnificent Howardite, in which you can see its composition, as well as its fusion crust
