Kashan was derived from the Persian kashi, which means "tile".
The Kashan rugs look very elegant, their balanced patterns in floral ornamentation and subtle fullness of ivory / beige and blue contrasting colour are very popular in Europe.
Entwined flowerraces often surround a diamond-shaped medallion. The corners are also richly decorated.
Kashans are exclusively knotted at home.
Depending on the quality, the knotting density is between 250,000 and 600,000 knots per square metre.
