High-quality hand-knotted rugs made in the city of Sarab and the surrounding area, in Azerbaijan, in north-west Iran. Old rugs (made before 1930-40) were most often knotted on a wool warp, while more recent ones are knotted on a cotton warp. The most common patterns are geometrical, in blue, red or camel brown. A significant amount of carpet runners are also produced in the area.

Thickness: approximately 8 mm
Age: circa 1930 (approx. 90 years old).
