Album containing 158 “Geschichtsblätter” relating to the Reformation and the Eighty Years' War in the Netherlands, as well as in France and Germany.
All original editions of these news prints. Etching and engraving. All published in Cologne by Frans Hogenberg and his studio, 1566-1593. Bound in modern old-style parchment binding, with modern endpapers and modern title page. Oblong folio.
This rare series is in beautiful condition. The binding is fine. The prints are all nice prints on paper with wide margins. The paper is slightly browned and a bit soiled. Paper with (light) spots, mostly in the margins. The last 11 prints on somewhat thicker paper (sometimes mounted on an old sheet). These prints are in fair to moderate condition, some with minor image loss. Here also some very rare 16th-century copies after Hogenberg.
Each print is shown in the pictures.
The album will be carefully packaged and sent by registered mail.
