You are bidding on an amazing limestone carving representing a Mother Goddess figure or a female idol, coming from the Arabian peninsula, most probably Yemen.
The arms embracing the large breasts, the wide abdomen and the swollen bottom are all typical steatopygia attributes, symbol of fertility.

In compliance with the Italian law, the object is accompanied by an export license and can therefore be sold and shipped outside Italy.

Dating: 6th - 5th millennium BC
Dimensions: about 5 cm long
Material: Limestone.
Conditions: very good, intact, hard limestone incrustations, nice patina.
Origin: Yemen.

Provenance: purchased on February 2014 in Dabrowa Gornicza (Poland), from I.B, private collection formed before 1960's.
