Full title: Biblia Sacra ad optima quaeque veteris, ut vocant, tralationis exemplaria summa diligentia, pariq; fide castigata. Cum Indicibus copiosissimis.
Ludguni (Lione), apud Ioan. Tornaesium (Jean de Tournes), 1554, 8vo with recent full parchment binding, practically perfect: five raised bands and red label with golden titles and friezes on the spine, red edges. The volume has pp. (16)-1152 + (78) of indexes. The title page is framed inside a woodcut frieze (with minimal repair at the upper inner margin that does not affect the printed part). There are small drop caps, ornate head- and tailpieces, as well as 198 woodcuts in the text by the well-known painter and designer Bernard Salomon (also known as Le Petit Bernard, B. Gallus or Gallo).
The text is complete with the last ten final sheets "Index epistolarum et evangeliorum...". On the last sheet there is a decorative woodcut. Small hole and small repaired tear at the top of the pp. 113-114; small defect of a few mm. on the white margin of pp. 269-270; repaired tears to pp. 335-336 without loss of text. Overall, a copy in excellent condition.
