Mainline history: The first prototype of the Series V160 was built by the Krupp company, and was delivered to the DB in 1960. It had the running number V160 001 and had a rounded frontal nose. A few more units followed this initial series (From V160 002 to 009) all of which were given the nickname "Lollo", - named after the Italian film star Gina Lollobrigida. In 1963 the first V160 (V160-010) with a new front was delivered and with these the V160 was given a new exterior appearance.
The top speed of these locomotives was 120 km/h.
The first series of these locomotives were decommissioned between 1978 and 1984.
