Rare set of 17th-century works by important authors. Sperling (1603-1658) was a German doctor, zoologist and physician, deacon and Rektor of the University of Wittenberg. He was among the first to practice zoology as a natural science.
Johann Hülsemann (1602-1661) was instead a German Lutheran theologian. He is known as one of Georgius Calixtus’ most prominent Lutheran academic opponents in the syncretistic controversy.
