Old, very rare short Prussian IOP, 1889 model, stamped 90, all are matching numbers.
I am releasing from my collection an old, very rare Prussian infantry officer’s sword, M 1889, matching numbers. This is a very rare, early state-issued piece, stamped with 90, matching number with scabbard, 173. R. 2.5, very short, was shortened at some point for a very small officer? Or it is a so-called suitcase dagger? For a journey, no idea, in any case, it is a 100% original piece. Experts will certainly be able to classify the piece. Brass hilt, remains of the thumb loop, state issue stamps on all of the pieces, regimental stamp on one side of the hilt, wooden handle covered with fish skin and multiple wire wrap. Straight blade with double fullers on both sides, manufacturer LEX COPPEL SOLINGEN on the stem, 90 stamped on the back of the blade under the crown, under this is a hallmark. Still has the original burnished scabbard with the same regimental stamps. Please see photos for further details. Total length: 67.5 cm, without scabbard: 62 cm, blade length: 47.2 cm, blade width: 2.5 cm. You are welcome to take a look at it any time at my place.
