Description
Turkey - Dagger
Good

Ottoman Empire, 1st World War, honorary dagger for Turkish and Prussian officers, a so-called ‘Enveriye dagger’.
I am releasing from my collection an Enveriy dagger from around 1916. Double-edged, slightly curved blade. Hammered into the obverse in Arabic is ‘Schahâda’ - the Muslim creed. On the third side, the ‘tughra’ of Sultan Mehmed V with a star and crescent moon, beneath this is the year 1334 in the Islamic calendar (1916 in our calendar). Hilt and scabbard made of embossed and ornamentally decorated brass sheet. A weapon with a typical Oriental look and feel, complete with the original belt loop. Slightly worn dagger in a very good condition. These pieces were also worn by German Luftwaffe officers on Turkish duty, the dagger is relatively rare, a copy of the original photo is also included. Please see photos for further details. Total length: 36 cm, without scabbard: 34 cm, blade length: 20.9 cm, blade width: 3.1 cm You are welcome to take a look at it any time at my place.
