Germany - Sword

Description
Germany - Sword
Good - 1680

Truncated steel executioner’s sword, Germany, 1680, blade engraved on both sides. The German inscription on one side reads "BECAUSE THE LORD IS JUST" with a drawing of a basket, while on the other side the inscription reads "AND LOVES JUSTICE" with a drawing of gallows with a dangling noose. There is a slight rust patina on the blade, which does not affect the quality of the steel. The handle is made of wood and is original. Laboratory tests show blood stains on the handle and blade as shown in the second last photo. Overall weight 1612 g, length 108 cm. In that period and due to its purpose, this type of sword had no tip. We are talking about the witch hunt period, where executions of brigands and murderers were frequent. This is a unique item. Insured shipping in a custom wooden container.
