Beautiful first edition given by Claude-Mathieu Delagardette (1762-1805) of the main work
published by the Italian architect Jaques Barozzio of VIGNOLE in 1562 on the
The five orders of architecture.
First draw of the 94 boards, 68 for the Five Orders - 26 for the Elemental Lessons of Shadows. Original prints drawn and engraved by Delagardette.
19th century binding in green half-leather with grain log, smooth back adorned with golden irons.
Beautiful copy, solid binding, leather a little rubbed by use, the spine remains decorative. Fresh and clean interior, a few rare foxing, rare sheets a little browned, including the 2 frontispiece titles. It is noted that the "King" in the title and in-fine of the approval-privilege were barred and replaced with the revolution by "Of the People".
Provenance: ex-libris handwritten on the false title "Lemoine" and Morey on the first opposite cover.
