Buenos Aires (1973)
A very rare privately printed work by Silvina Ocampo. Presentation copy, inscribed by Ocampo and presented with an original gouache watercolour painting by the well known, Norah Borges. One copy of this work is held in Notre Dame, Indiana - with no other copies known online. There is also a 4 page typed work, 'Leon Cauti Bo En Una Medalla' - by Ocampo, due to the nature of the collection, we would assume the original typescript of this work.
Ocampo and Borges were long time friends, with Borges being the Sister of the famous Argentinian writer, Jorge Luis Borges. Silvina and Jorge were in the same circle and were very close. The watercolour is signed to the lower left corner and inscribed to verso by Ocampo.
A truly one off piece.
Leonor Fanny "Norah" Borges Acevedo (March 4, 1901 – July 20, 1998), was a visual artist and art critic, member of the Florida group, and sister of the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges.
Bound in the original paper wraps; There is some wear and creasing, small amount of toning, but in good order. Contents: a little toned and the odd blemish/mark, but a very good example. The watercolour in good condition. Please see images for further description.
