Pieter de Bruyne - Al Meubel - Chest of drawers

Description
Pieter de Bruyne - Al Meubel - Chest of drawers
Belgium - 1950-1959 - Wood, Olive

Exceptional cabinet, designed by Pieter De Bruyne for Almeubel at the end of the 1950s. The piece of furniture is made of olive wood and contains three drawers and a door with a shelf behind it. The cross-shaped details in between the legs already show that this early work by Pieter De Bruyne is a particular design. A pioneer, whose artful furniture was internationally regarded as predecessors of the Memphis group and postmodernism from the 1970s. The piece of furniture itself does not have any label, but it is clearly described in the reference book 'Pieter De Bruyne, pionier van het postmodernisme' and in an advertisement in the design magazine 'Meubels et Decors' from 1960s (see pictures).
The piece of furniture is in beautiful condition with light signs of wear.
