London: George Bishop 1584
Here is an incredibly rare first edition in English of Calvin's, 'Harmonie Upon the Three Evangelists'. 2 parts in 1, title within typographic border, woodcut initials, head- and tail-pieces. This book is seldom found available for sale, especially in this good of condition. A very rare 16th century English work.
Collation: (48], 806, [2]; [8], 464, [24] p- with E4 but lacking blank (as issued), majority of part 2 A1 torn away with significant loss to text - Otherwise complete.
Rebound in modern cloth. Contents: some marginal damp-staining, browning or soiling. There is worming to the outer margins / gutter for the first half of the book - this does not effect the text. A few leaves torn to margins, as mentioned above - most of part 2 A1 is torn/lacking. Title page frayed to margins and with strengthening to lower margin. In extremely good condition for the age. Please see images for further description.
