Poetry - Quantity: 1 - Book

Milagros de Nuestra Señora is the capital work of Gonzalo de Berceo, a secular clergyman who nevertheless was part of the atmosphere of the monastery of San Millán, between 1246 and 1252 approximately. It’s a compilation of exempla recounting twenty-five miracles of the Virgin Mary, written in Spanish at a late stage in his life. He used as a source Latin collections of Marian miracles circulating in the 13th century for 24 of them (Manuscript of Thott, no. 128, Copenhagen Library), (Manuscript no. 110, National Library of Madrid), and number 25 (numbered 24 in modern editions) of unknown sources, possibly oral. The work also includes an original introduction. It uses the stanza called ‘cuaderna via’, typical of the Mester of Clerecía. (Wikipedia)

It is a legal copy of the manuscript published in 1983 by the Royal Spanish Academy. Its ISBN is 84-600-3319-8.
