Beautiful silver medal, entirely in mint condition, made by Martin Holtzhey (1697, Ulm – 1764, MIddelburg), an 18th century medallist who was mainly active in the Netherlands.

Subject: Lutheran medal, second centennial of the Augsburg Confession.

Obverse: Hand from the clouds holding a scale with books.
Reverse: 5 lines of text with chronogram

Material: silver
Diameter: 29 mm
Weight: 22 grams

This medal was certified by NGC as being MS65! With a wonderful patina.

Medals by Holtzhey of the same subject were bought by Teylers Museum and the Rijksmuseum.
