The author's aim, as he stated in his epistle, "n'est autre que la conservation de la santé, & deraciner & abbatre ceste miserable & sanglante coustume de saigner en toutes maladies, aages, sexes, & saisons". The first edition was published in 1624 and the second in 1630; this one was revised and expanded by the author. It includes 4 other texts following the treatise: Traicté de Galien, de l'alictement des malades; Apologie contre Jean Terud, fils de Louis, médecin de Paris; Examen du livre intitulé: Médecin charitable à Paris; Traité de la métoposcopie, physiognomonie, ou physiognomie.

Apart from the mentioned imperfections, this copy of this extremely rare work is in good condition.
