First edition of this law book. Claude Henrys (1615-1662) was a lawyer at the presidial of Montbrison and Lyon.
Struck out bookplate “Gournay de la...” and bookplate of “René-François Gournais adv.”. It refers to the lawyer and deputy of the Estates General of 1789 François-René Gournay (1750-1806). He was also the mayor of Mayenne.
Full calfskin binding, ribbed spine, fleurons, marbled edges. Cracked joints but sound binding, wear on the
corners, old water stains on the top of the pages in one part of the work, some small wormholes in the margin of about a dozen leaves.
A rare work with an interesting provenance.
