Luristan Bronze Flaring Axe Head
Circa 1200-700 BC

A fine Luristan cast bronze axe head, with socket and flared blade. The weapon features some earthly encrustations and a beautiful green patina to the surface. Luristan bronze comes from the province of Lorestan, a region situated in the area of modern South-Western Iran. Axe heads, such as this nice example, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased.

Measurements: circa 23.8cm length, 9.8cm width
