Rare. Third Italian edition of the “historical dictionary” by Abbot Ladvocat (1709-1765). Given in Bassano in 1806 in 7 volumes (bound in 3 volumes) after that of Antonio Palazzi of Milan in 3 volumes and that of Naples in 4 volumes. It is expanded with Giangiuseppe Origla and notes by Anton Maria Lugo.
Ladvocat (1709-1765) was a royal censor, doctor, librarian and professor at the Sorbonne, Hebrew scholar. Ladvocat’s historical dictionary is an abridged version of Moréri. The author composed it during his holidays, in the countryside, as a way to relax, and with the sole aim of giving the young people who often consulted him a fair idea of history and literature.
