Ampio 2016 comes from the best vineyards of Le Mortelle, from harvested grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Cabernet Franc.
Collected in small boxes and taken to the cellar for careful manual sorting. Only selected grapes have reached the special truncated conical tanks filled by gravity, ensuring the integrity of each fruit. Their shape and the particular fulling system guarantee a delicate but decisive winemaking process, capable of enhancing the aromas, the balance of tannin and the characteristics of each variety. The different lots, separated by variety, underwent malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels and then allowed themselves about 18 months of aging, before being blended. Ampio rested for a further 12 months in the bottle before being presented on the market.
In the glass intense ruby. The nose is immediately rich and penetrating. It expresses with hints of black currant, notes of thyme and oregano, hints of graphite and wood. On the palate it is full-bodied and dense; the tannic texture is velvety and the finish is very long.
