The Plan V series is one of the most famous of our country. The deployment area of the 244 two-carriage sets (three have been lost due to accidents) extends from Noord-Holland to Zuid-Limburg. The first two of the total 13 subseries (40-415, 416-430) were delivered in the green livery by Werkspoor. The follow-up series 431-438 were the first series delivered with the new yellow house livery in 1968.
The seventh series were also the last series produced at Werkspoor. After that, this well-known factory closed its doors. The remaining Plan V-sets were built at Talbot in Aachen.
The last sets were delivered to the NS in 1976.
The plan V Series are often coupled with the four carriages of Plan T.
The maximum speed of Plan V is 140 km/h.
