First edition of this official coronation diary documenting the 1764 election and coronation of Joseph II in Frankfurt am Main. Comes with an engraved frontispiece, a title page printed in black, red, and yellow, 12 engraved plates with portraits of the most prominent guests, 1 plate depicting the coronation ceremony, as well as engraved head- and tailpieces throughout. Rubbing, bumping, and wear to the boards and spine. The newer green labels on the spine are damaged, and the bottom of the spine is fraying a bit. Pen markings on the front and back pastedown endpaper. Pencil markings on both sides of the front free endpaper. Pencil markings on the title page. Horizontal creasing on page 77/78 which affect the legibility of the text somewhat (see photos). Bookworm holes in the outer margin of the last 6 pages. The text and illustrations are clear, the paper is crisp, and the binding is solid. Overall, a handsome copy in fair/good- condition.
