Heinrich Kleyer Aktiengesellschaft Frankfurt am Main, built since 1900 Adler No. 7 model. While typewriters have been produced as standard in the USA since 1874, it was only with the increase in office work in the 1890s that a development towards working with typewriters began in Germany. In trade and administration in particular, the view was previously held that a handwritten letter was more polite than a machine-made letter.
Against this background, the story of the "Eagles 7" is all the more astonishing. Around 1900, it was the first typewriter of German production to become a bestseller nationally and internationally. Heinrich Kleyer AG" achieved the commercial breakthrough in this sales segment with this technically brilliant model. By the end of 1905, 20,000 "Adler 7" had already been sold and the typewriter became the new mass-produced article. The reasons for the great success were certainly the technical brilliance, reliability and robustness of the office machine for the conditions at the time.
