Helm mask representing the head of a buffalo with a basketry base. Buffalo crest mask from the Mama of northern Cameroon or southern Nigeria.
The lips are painted with green Ripolin paint. The crest mask is topped by a structure in wickerwork. The horns join in the middle, the form is resolutely cubist. The open mouth of this buffalo gives the impression that it is smiling.
Polychromy. Crusty patina with libations.
