Wilhelm Von Gloeden, “Ragazza Siciliana”, dimensions 17x 12 cm, a splendid portrait of a Sicilian girl. Original albumen print photo on salt paper from 1904. Artist’s stamp and place of shooting are on the back. Taken in Taormina, Sicily. It bears the classic annotation in pencil on the back, with numbering (no. 4). The artist always used to number and archive his works.
Von Gloeden was an immense artist. In the late 1980s, the great Lucio Amelio curated an exhibition of his works visited by Michelangelo Pistoletto, Andy Wharhol and Joseph Beuys.
