Enzo Esposito was born in Benevento in 1946, and he lives and works in Milan.
After a phase of maturation in a climate of conceptual art and formal rigour, followed by a short period of use of photography, he was one of the few artists in Italy to sense the passage to painting through the “environments” in the late 1970s.

The first installations date back to 1977, paintings made directly on the walls of galleries, where the show of colours creates strong emotional impacts.

Leading exponent of “Nuovi Nuovi”, a group founded by Renato Barilli in the early 1980s, Esposito participated in many exhibitions in the most important Italian museums. The large-sized canvasses belong to this period, boldly exceeding the limits of the canvas surface, which underlines the objective value of painting as an experience to confront with.

The following period was marked by an abstract expressionism made of bright lights and always wider backgrounds.

From the 1990s until today, many solo exhibitions of his works have been organised in Italian and foreign galleries, such as Milan, Verona, Venice, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and in important institutional locations, for example the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Italian Institute of Culture of Rio de Janeiro, the MAC of Santiago.
