The “Encyclopédie méthodique” ( Methodical Encyclopedia), full name “Encyclopédie methodique, ou par ordre de matieres”, also called “Encyclopédie Panckoucke” is an encyclopedia published in the 18th century in French. It is a monumental work based on the “Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers” by Diderot and d'Alembert with the aim of improving and supplementing it.

It was launched under subscription in 1782 by the bookseller-philosopher Charles-Joseph Panckoucke, based in Paris, where he had successfully created the first journalistic empire of the time. Its release spread over half a century, from 1782 to 1832. After the death of Charles Joseph Panckoucke in 1798, publication was provided by his son-in-law and partner Henri Agasse (1752–1813) and then by his daughter Thérèse-Charlotte Agasse, the latter's widow.
This colossal feat, in which more than a thousand authors participated, reaches a series of 210 volumes[1] (157 of text on two columns and 53 of plates), on fifteen linear metres.

A beautiful copy in excellent condition, firm volume, binding in excellent good condition. Interior in very good overall condition, crisp and clean, some marks and rare foxing.
